Getting Ready |
The Time Select a time that works best with your family’s schedule. Small children usually photograph best after a feed and a nap. Are they generally at their happiest in the morning or afternoon? The Look Decide the type of “look” you want (e.g. formal or casual) |

What to Wear |
When selecting clothing, keep in mind your background options, and the look you want to portray. For a dramatic look, dress everyone in white and request the white background or perhaps white shirts and khaki, stone or blue denim jeans or pants. All black clothing can also make a great portrait look. Simplicity is the key and solid colours are the best. Avoid bold patterns and bright colours as they tend to draw the attention away from the face. Darker clothing tends to minimize body size and light tones tend to emphasise. Long sleeve dresses and shirts often look the best. They draw attention away from the arms and focus on the face. (Short sleeves are always good for infants, small children). Necklines are important. A scoop or v-neck is best if your neck is on the shorter side. Longer necks look great with higher necked garments. Dress everyone in the same style of clothing. Don’t mix casual and formal attire. |
