Sometimes a wedding photographer can get very disappointed with the lack of time available to produce the works of art that they know the couple will treasure. All too often a tight agenda can end up a disappointment, especially if the couple concerned value their photography (and want a great album as well).

Here are some basic principles you need to keep in mind when developing your wedding plans and schedules for the day (if you value your wedding photography):

1. Always involve your photographer before you set things in concrete.
2. Don’t forget travel time between the ceremony location, locations for photos and the reception location.
3. Family photos can often take longer than you think.
4. Don’t forget about sunset times.  The best time for any outdoor photography is the last hour before sunset when the light is beautiful and even.  That’s when real magic happens!!!!
5. Have a wet weather plan.

All too often the best laid plans end up with last minute ‘disasters’ which are not so disasterous if you’re prepared.  Over the years we have put together a list of a few essential items the should be considered (and on hand) that can fix most of the last minute nasties.

Here’s a few things to have on hand…

• Pain killers
• Band-Aids
• Bottle of water
• Chalk or an “Exit” Stick to cover up any last minute smudges or smears on your dress
• Clear nail polish (for stocking runs)
• Safety pins
• Eye drops
• Extra cash (because you never know)
• Extra earring backs/Hair pins/ponytail holder
• Hand towelettes
• Hem tape / Mini sewing kit
• Static-cling spray
• Straws (so the bride can sip something without messing up her lipstick)
• Tissues
• Tweezers

Keep it mind that the Bride doesn’t need to hold any of this stuff - leave it to the attendants a close friends who seem to hang around.

The maid or matron of honor may want to keep the following items on hand in a small evening bag at all times for the bride.

• Make up (for touch-ups)
• Comb/brush
• Dental floss
• Extra panty hose
• Hair spray
• Mobile phone
• Mirror
• Nail file
• Perfume

We had the pleasure of capturing the wedding day of Katrena & Richard in April.  Then venue was the beautiful Tamborine Gardens up in the Gold Coast hinterland.  The day was full of surprises - especially with the great sky at the escarpment - it did get a little chilly but everyone dug deep to produce some great shots.  Thanks to Katran, Richard and the bridal party who made the time together a whole lof of fun.

Danielle & Doug decided to tie the knot at Robina Woods Golf Course.

Another lovely day, another gorgeous couple. This time the stunning Angela and handsome Irishman Barry wed in the lovely surroundings of Cedar Creek Winery at Mt. Tamborine. With many visitors from the Emerald Isle, naturally laughter and fun (and a few pints of Guinness) was the order of the day. Oops haven’t posted for ages! Have lots of gorgeous weddings to update our blog with. I’ll start with this one. The beautiful Kirsten and Laurie! What a fantastic couple. At present this young pair are mustering cattle out in the middle of W.A. I know! She is such a lovely dainty little thing, it’s hard to imagine. They love their rural lifestyle and are obviously crazy in love!

We had such a fun day with them. Here are just a few pics from the shoot. The building in this shoot is at Marist College where Laurie and all his brothers went to school.

Anissa & Bill chose a great day to remember their anniversary - Australia Day.
The ceremony was held in the Great Hall at Brisbane Boys Grammar and the reception at the Polo Club. This wedding was shot by our photographer - Tim Harris.
